Electric Forest 2014 was absolutely fantastic. Things I learned:
VIP was worth it. Less walking, more music, more forest, awesome late night shows and Queen playing in air conditioned bathrooms.
Lucky Lake Campground is a great walkable alternative option for RVs and people who are looking for a quieter camping experience. Free shuttle to the gates provided by “Don”.
The food was great. Don’t worry about grocery shopping too much. Vegetarian / gluten free options too.
Buy a hammock before this festival or spend the whole weekend wishing you had more money to buy one.
Watch out for red heads with pink spray bottles! Nuff said. Haha.
Make official meeting spots. Set times to meet at those spots. Cell phone service is obviously bad.
Realized I am really good at finding lost phones. Found and returned four very expensive phones to their very surprised owners rather than take them to the very chaotic lost and found. Told them it’s a Minnesota thing to do the right thing. Pay it forward.
The lake express ferry is super fast. cuts out about 5-6 hours of drive time from Minneapolis.
Lots more friends equals a lot more fun. Glad so many Minnesota friends made it this year. Your faces made it the best year yet.
STS9: Night 2 with a perfectly timed sprinkle of rain.
Umphreys: Night 1. MGMT+Nirvana cover was killer.
Booka Shade: Danced more during this one than any other set. Thanks Paul!
John Wayne & The Pain: Great as always. Even better in the forest.
Tycho: Lost everyone during the Cheese set break, chilled with some new friends who kindly let me join them. Thanks again. Killer show. Unlike anything else there.
Emancipator Ensemble: missed the begining but the rest was perfect for watching the sun go down.
Zoogma: Hotel California cover was one of my favorites of the weekend.
Cosby Sweater / Moon Taxi: Shade spot, awesome tunes, borrowed yoga mat, Sunday afternoon public nap. (Thanks Jake!)
Can’t wait for next year.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Geneva Lake Jam this weekend!
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
